Mount Vernon Country Club is a premier private club located in Alexandria, Virginia, on land that was once part of George Washington's historic Mount Vernon farms called Union Farm. The First Assistant Golf Professional serves as a key leader within the Golf Operations team, working closely with the Head Golf Professional to deliver outstanding service to members and guests while assisting with all aspects of the golf operation.
MVCC is proud to host USGA Qualifiers, VSGA Championships, MAPGA events, and the upcoming 108th DC Amateur Championship. This position provides valuable experience in tournament operations, staff leadership, merchandising, member programming, and private club management.
The ideal candidate is a motivated, service-driven PGA Professional who is passionate about hospitality, leadership, and creating exceptional golf experiences.
Experience Required
PGA Professional - Must have PGA or LPGA Certification
Previous experience in an Assistant Golf Professional role with increasing leadership responsibilities
Demonstrated ability to deliver exceptional service
Experience managing tee sheets, tournament operations, handicapping, and golf shop retail operations
Strong knowledge of the Rules of Golf and tournament administration
Experience supervising, training, and motivating outside operations and golf shop team
Essential Responsibilities
Assist the Head Golf Professional in all day-to-day golf operations
Deliver exceptional service to members, guests, and tournament participants
Manage scheduling and provide daily oversight of Golf Operations team
Support membership services and member communications
Oversee outside operations, including cart fleet management, practice facilities, and guest experience
Lead, train, and motivate staff with professionalism, accountability, and positivity
Utilize the club's point-of-sale and tee sheet management systems for daily operations, sales, reporting, and member services
Assist with inventory management, receiving, merchandising, and retail presentation
Support the planning and execution of tournaments, outings, and member events
Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming Golf Shop environment
Step into any operational role when needed-flexibility and teamwork are essential
Uphold the culture, service standards, and traditions of Mount Vernon Country Club
The successful candidate will be a visible presence within the club, demonstrate a commitment to member satisfaction, and contribute to creating an exceptional golf experience that reflects the values and reputation of Mount Vernon Country Club.
