Description
OverviewArnold Palmer's Bay Hill Club & Lodge is in Orlando, FL and hosts the PGA Tour's Arnold Palmer Invitational Presented by MasterCard in March. Bay Hill has historically ranked as one of the most difficult golf courses on the PGA Tour, with the best players in the world averaging over par. When not hosting the PGA Tour's best, Bay Hill's 27 holes is enjoyed by our membership and lodge guests. Amenities include a 68-room Lodge, fitness center, pool, and tennis courts.
The Assistant Golf Professional is a full-time year-round position involved in all areas of the golf operation, including: daily golf shop operations, member/guest relations, tee time management, outside services supervision, event management, interdepartmental communications, and merchandising.
Essential Functions
- Greet all members, guests, and visitors.
- Commit to upholding the Palmer Values: Exhibit Genuine Concern, Deepen Relationships, Practice Attentive Awareness, Move Quickly, Act Like a Champion.
- Maintain intimate knowledge of the entire operation, including club and employee policies.
- Enforce and interpret club policies, rules, and regulations.
- Project high professional standards in the daily representation of yourself and the club.
- Organize and conduct member golf events and outings. Actively promote golf events and encourage participation.
- Provide support for all organizations conducting events at the club.
- Prepare and send member and staff communications and updates.
- Assist in all areas of the golf shop and merchandise operation including product knowledge, receiving inventory, merchandise displays, special orders, placing orders, etc.
- Provide golf instruction to all age groups and skill levels. Continue to develop teaching skills.
- Play golf with members and guests and improve your own game.
- Serve as a starter and golf course player assistant as needed.
- Maintain accurate play count and billing records.
- Assist in the outside services program as needed to uphold service and cleanliness standards.
- Maintain operational supplies.
- Display merchandise and restock on regular basis.
- Provide club repair services to members and guests.
- Oversee and supervise the daily operations of the outside services attendants, range attendants, starter, and course monitors.
- Establish and maintain the member requirements for the PGA of America.
- Perform additional responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time by the General Manager, Director of Golf, or Head Golf Professional.
Experience Required
- 1+ years' experience experience in golf operations at a private facility or resort is required.
- PGA and/or LPGA Associate or Member in good standing and Passed PAT
- Four-year college degree
- Must have supervisory, coaching, and staff development experience
- Must be proficient in Excel, Power Point, Word, Jonas, Golf Genius

- Proficient in all aspects of the Starter / Caddie Master Position
- Trained in all aspects of the Retail Attendant Position
- Become certified in club repair and participate in the golf operations club repair service
- Assist the professional staff in the training of all current and future employees as needed
Regular attendance is expected in conformance with the standards established by The Bay Hill Club & Lodge. Your attendance is essential to the successful performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. Due to the cyclical nature of the club / resort business, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the club.

Tools, Machine and Equipment Used
Must be able to operate a golf cart, range picker, and ball washer
Physical Requirements
- Stand/walk for an 8-hour shift.
- Must have the ability to lift or carry up to 50 pounds, bend, run or sprint short distances; stand for extended periods of time, able to withstand exposure to heat, cold, and elements of nature. Can carry out administrative tasks such as typing, filing, scheduling, etc.
- Proper lifting techniques required.
Expected hours of work: 40-50 hours a week
Grooming
All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance as directed by the employee handbook and determined by the Director of Golf.
