Job Description
Title Senior Investment Specialist
Department Equities - Investment Directing
Location Hong Kong
Reports To Head of Investment Directing, Equities
Level Senior Manager
We're proud to have been helping our clients build better financial futures for over 50 years. How have we achieved this? By working together - and supporting each other - all over the world. So, join our [insert name of team/ business area] team and feel like you're part of something bigger.
About your team
The Equity - Investment Directing Team is composed of a series investment specialists, each with a specific geographical/asset class coverage. The team acts as an interface between Fidelity's investment team (fund managers and Investment Directors) and Fidelity's client-facing personnel through the co-ordinated and consistent delivery of key investment messages across Fidelity's equity fund range.
About your role
We are hiring a Senior Investment Specialist to take franchise-level ownership of an equity strategy group, acting as the key interface between portfolio managers/investment directors and Fidelity's client-facing teams. The primary focus of the role remains equities: working with the Portfolio Managers and Investment Directors to deliver consistent investment messages and providing deep analysis to explain performance patterns and risk.
To respond to the latest client needs, the role also requires a cross-asset perspective - the ability to frame investment outcomes in the context of broader market drivers and portfolio construction conversations, and to integrate messaging across capabilities where relevant. This cross-asset capability is an additive requirement to strengthen client relevance and commercial effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
Equities (core focus)
- Work with Portfolio Managers and Investment Directors on investment narrative and client materials for assigned equity strategies/franchise, ensuring consistent messaging across channels and audiences.
- Partner closely with Investment Directors and Portfolio Managers: proactively shape content, source insights, and coordinate communications on their behalf.
- Conduct and/or commission deep fund analysis to explain outcomes and manage expectations (e.g., performance attribution, competitor analysis, liquidity analysis, risk exposure, macro sensitivity, revenue exposure, style biases).
- Other equity communications, tailored for different client types, ensuring appropriate governance/compliance.
- Respond to complex investment queries from sales, marketing, RFP/RFI and press colleagues within agreed timeframes.
Cross-asset perspective (additional capability expectation)
- Integrate equity insights into broader portfolio and market narratives, helping distribution and clients connect investment outcomes to cross-capability drivers where relevant.
- Contribute to cross-capability materials and business development responses across asset classes as needed, supporting consistent messaging and client outcomes.
- Apply solution oriented thinking: link client needs to appropriate investment solutions across asset classes (within Investment Directing remit).
Ways of working / platform contribution
- Work effectively across stakeholders (IM, Distribution, Marketing, RFP teams) and drive quality, efficiency, and consistency in content and query workflows.
- Support team development and quality oversight across specialists/fund analysts where relevant.
About you
- Strong equity investment knowledge and the ability to understand and explain an equity PM's investment process and portfolio outcomes.
- Proven analytical capability working with complex datasets to interpret investment performance and risks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to translate technical content into clear client-ready messaging.
- Demonstrable ability to operate with a cross-asset perspective, including broad understanding of different markets/clients and the ability to link client needs to appropriate solutions.
- Experience in producing and owning client materials (e.g., market/portfolio narratives) and partnering across investment teams/functions to ensure alignment and consistency.
- Familiarity with tools such as Bloomberg / Eikon / Datastream / FactSet (helpful but not required).
- CFA or CFA ESG is preferred or demonstrable willingness to study for relevant qualifications.
