Description
This position will provide system engineering support to the MnDOT ARMER public safety radio system backbone in the Metro Region. To develop implementation plans and process documentation, to provide repairs, updates, and maintenance support of existing systems and expansion of new integrated systems. This position also provides technical expertise in testing and evaluation services to State of Minnesota agencies, local area ARMER system partner agencies, and other contracted agencies.
The responsibilities include:
- Provide system engineering and technical support for the regional ARMER master site office (MSO).
- Support and test system dispatch console equipment.
- Maintain 800MHz system controllers, microwave systems, communications equipment, and other infrastructure equipment.
- Provide customer support during system upgrades and/or expansions.
- Make approved major alterations and/or modifications to the existing system upon request of OSRC Engineering.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- FCC Radio Telephone License or be an APCO/NABER certified technician at time of hire
AND
- Valid Class “D” driver’s license.
AND
- Two or more years of recent advanced technical working experience (within the last four years) supporting a regional or large-scale radio communications system with responsibility for installation, repair, and implementation of a variety of radio communications equipment.
- Knowledge of microprocessors, digital, analog, and electromechanical technology.
- Knowledge of computers and computer peripheral equipment.
- Knowledge of software development process.
- Knowledge of radio communication procedures and ability to operate communication equipment and peripheral equipment. (i.e., telephone, two-way radio, and computer).
- Knowledge and application of record keeping requirements and ability to keep records and complete reports.
