Under new ownership, Holly Tree Country Club is embarking on an exciting period of transformation and reinvestment. The Club will undergo strategic capital improvements and upgrades designed to enhance the golf course, Club facilities, amenities, and overall member experience. This investment represents a significant opportunity to build upon Holly Tree's history while creating a modern, elevated private club experience. The vision is to establish Holly Tree as one of the premier country clubs in the Tyler and East Texas market.
As the Club begins this exciting new chapter, Holly Tree Country Club is seeking an accomplished, energetic, and service-oriented Head Golf Professional to lead the day-to-day golf operation and play a critical role in shaping the future of the Club's golf experience. This is an exceptional opportunity for a golf professional who wants to join a historic and established private club while helping lead its evolution into a best-in-class country club operation.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Head Golf Professional is responsible for the daily execution of golf operations at Holly Tree Country Club and serves as the primary operational leader overseeing member golf services, tournament administration, golf shop operations, staff development, instruction programs, pace of play, and daily member engagement. The successful candidate will provide exceptional service while ensuring that all golf operations reflect the standards of a premier private country club. Working closely with Club leadership and the Director of Golf, the Head Golf Professional will translate the Club's strategic vision into consistent, professional, and highly engaging daily execution. The Head Golf Professional will maintain a highly visible presence throughout the golf operation, develop strong relationships with members and guests, and foster a culture of hospitality, professionalism, teamwork, and accountability among the golf staff.
Experience Required
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Class A PGA Professional in good standing.
- Minimum of three years of experience as an Assistant Golf Professional or Golf Operations Manager at a private club.
- Strong knowledge of golf operations.
- Exceptional member service and relationship-building skills.
- Proven tournament administration experience.
- Strong leadership and staff-development abilities.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- A genuine passion for golf and the private club industry.
Preferred
- Private club experience.
- Experience supervising a golf operations team.
- Golf Genius proficiency.
- Experience with Jonas, Northstar, Club Essentials, or similar club management software.
- Experience hosting major tournaments and events.
- Demonstrated success in developing golf programming and member engagement.

Essential Responsibilities

- Help strengthen Holly Tree Country Club's reputation as a premier private club in the Tyler and East Texas market.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Daily Golf Operations
Oversee all day-to-day golf activities, including:
- Golf shop opening and closing procedures.
- Daily staff assignments and coverage.
- Tee sheet management.
- POS operations and member charging procedures.
- Cash handling and compliance.
- Golf merchandise presentation and inventory management.
- Daily sales reporting.
- Golf cart staging and presentation.
- Practice facility operations and presentation.
- Bag drop and member arrival experience.
- Starter and marshal operations.
- Locker room presentation.
- Practice ball inventory.
- Daily inspections of all golf operation areas.
Member Experience & Relations
Develop strong, lasting relationships with members and guests by:
- Greeting and engaging members throughout the Club.
- Assisting members with golf-related requests.
- Managing tee-time concerns and service issues.
- Resolving member concerns professionally and promptly.
- Following up on member feedback.
- Maintaining a highly visible presence throughout the property.
- Promoting Club activities, tournaments, and events.
- Creating a welcoming, engaging, and service-oriented golf environment.
The Head Golf Professional should spend a significant portion of each day interacting directly with members and guests.
Tournament & Event Operations
Plan and execute a comprehensive calendar of golf events, including:
Club Events
- Weekly member events.
- Club Championships.
- Member-Member tournaments.
- Member-Guest tournaments.
- Couples events.
- Holiday golf events.
- Junior golf events.
Outside Events
- Corporate outings.
- Charity tournaments.
- Association events.
- Sponsored events.
Responsibilities include:
- Tournament setup.
- Pairings and tee sheets.
- Scoring.
- Rules administration.
- Prize distribution.
- Event communications.
- Financial reconciliation.
- Detailed event timelines and operational plans.
Staff Leadership & Development
Lead and develop the golf operations team through:

The Head Golf Professional will mentor Assistant Golf Professionals and support their pursuit of PGA membership and career advancement.
Starter, Marshal & Outside Services
Oversee the Club's starter, marshal, cart, practice facility, and bag drop operations, including:

- Member greetings and arrival experience.
- Course condition communication.
- On-course pace monitoring.
- Course inspections.
- Member assistance and service recovery.
- Cart cleanliness and maintenance reporting.

- Club storage procedures.
Golf Shop & Retail
Assist the Director of Golf with all golf shop and retail operations, including:
- Product presentation and merchandising.
- Seasonal displays.

- Physical inventories.
- Shrinkage prevention.
- Merchandise promotions.
- Member special orders.
- Vendor relationships.

Instruction & Player Development
Actively participate in and support the growth of player development programs, including:

Serve as a key ambassador for Holly Tree Country Club by:

Course Condition Communication
Maintain close communication with the Director of Agronomy regarding:

The Head Golf Professional should participate in regular course walks with the agronomy team.
Financial & Administrative Responsibilities
