OverviewThe Woodlands Country Club boasts 99 holes of golf across 4 properties (Palmer, Player, Trails, & Tournament) in The Woodlands, Texas. Home to the PGA Tour Champions - Insperity, The Tournament Course at The Woodlands CC is a premier golf experience for our members and guests.
The Head Golf Professional assists the Director of Golf and the Club General Manager in the management of day-to-day golf operations of the facility. The position is responsible for all operational and financial targets and is expected to manage their Club to achieve those goals. They will supervise and manage total golf operations, including leading and mentoring multiple Assistant Golf Professionals and the entire golf staff. The Head Golf Professional will be actively involved in all financials for the club, including revenue, payroll, and expenses through daily tracking, weekly and monthly forecasting, and by assisting the Director of Golf in yearly budgeting. All duties of the position shall be performed with a commitment to the highest level of customer service and total satisfaction of all customers.
The Head Golf Professional serves as a highly visible leader within the Club and is expected to build strong relationships with members, develop the golf team, drive participation in golf programs, and maintain the service standards expected at a premier private club.
The Woodlands Country Club - Tournament Course has been a host to the PGA Tour and currently the PGA Tour Champions.
Experience Required
- Knowledge, Skills and Traits
- Maintain PGA of America membership in good standing in an active classification
- Previous Golf Professional Experience
- High level of financial acumen
- Extensive knowledge of the game of golf, rules of golf, golf facility operations and tournament operations
- Proficient supervisory practices and principles
- Be a leader and mentor for other golf professionals
- Act as a role model for all employees by demonstrating the behavior and work ethic expected of all employees
- Strong organizational, planning and prioritization skills
- Self-motivated with desire to promote and market
- Service and customer focused attitude
- Experienced in written and oral business communications
- Remain up-to-date on customer relationship management tactics and strategies
- Utilize the resources of PGA player development programs such as Get Golf Ready, PGA Junior League, Crush It, Tee it Forward and others
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Office applications; including Outlook.
- High Level of knowledge in Golf Genius and GHIN Software
- Maintain and promote a positive professional image within the community
- Attend conferences, workshops, meetings, and trade shows to keep abreast of marketing and business trends
- Maintain a credible golf game and remain current on teaching innovations

Specific Responsibilities- include but are not limited to:
- Actively manage daily operations and financials to achieve budget, while focusing on a high-level of customer service and member experience.
- Train and lead other golf professionals.
- Supervise and direct other golf professionals in day-to-day operations, as well as all golf operations employees.
- Ensure the highest level of services for our members.
- Assist the Director of Merchandising with invoicing and inventory.
- Assist the Director of Golf with operational needs and financial targets and plans.
- Ensure club policies and expectations are being met and followed
- Manage facility tournament operations including weekly events
- Assist in tournament operations and weekly events including planning, pre-tournament contracts, post- tournament billing, promotion, course set-up, preparation, scoring, prize distribution, and follow up
- Work with the Player Development Team to execute clinics, lessons, and camps.
- Run men's, women's, and junior golf events and programs
- Execute Player Development programs using PGA tools and resources
- Direct golf shop and outside service staff to ensure the highest quality of customer service is achieved
- Assist in managing golf car operation, practice facility, and club storage service (as applicable)
- Directly responsible for timely and consistently maintaining the club's USGA Handicap System
- Responsible for inventory control of hard goods, soft goods, and special orders including ordering procedures, receiving procedures, inputting into point of sale, pricing procedures, display, and sales
- Play golf with a variety of customers in competitive and non-competitive situations
- Assist in planning and budgeting for the golf operations
- Conduct oneself in a professional manner and always maintain a professional image
- Assist with the administration of applicable staff via recordkeeping, work schedules, etc. in accordance with facility human resource policies
- Assist in coordinating golf activities with other departments
