Position Overview

Bentwater Yacht & Country Club is seeking a creative, organized, and detail-oriented Golf Shop Buyer to oversee merchandise selection and purchasing for our golf retail operation. This individual will play an important role in creating an exceptional shopping experience for our Members and their Guests by selecting quality golf apparel, footwear, accessories, and merchandise that reflect the Club's standards, current retail trends, and member preferences.

The ideal candidate has a strong eye for merchandising, sound purchasing judgment, and the ability to balance style, quality, inventory management, and financial performance in a private club environment.

Experience Required

Qualifications & Skills

• Previous experience in retail buying, merchandising, inventory management, or golf retail preferred.
• Must be proficient with Golf Genius Golf Shop
• Knowledge of golf apparel, footwear, lifestyle brands, and current retail trends is a plus.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and vendor relationship skills.
• Proficiency with point-of-sale systems, inventory software, and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to analyze sales information and make informed purchasing decisions.
• Strong sense of style, visual presentation, and product selection.
• Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team.
• Commitment to professional service and the expectations of a private club environment.

Essential Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Purchasing & Product Selection

• Select and purchase golf apparel, footwear, accessories, and specialty merchandise that align with member preferences, seasonal trends, and Club standards.
• Develop merchandise assortments that balance established golf brands, emerging trends, and lifestyle products.
• Manage purchasing decisions within approved budgets and inventory objectives.
• Coordinate seasonal buying plans and merchandise launches.

Vendor Relations & Order Management

• Establish and maintain strong relationships with vendors and brand representatives.
• Evaluate product offerings, pricing, terms, and promotional opportunities.
• Negotiate pricing and coordinate purchase orders, deliveries, and vendor communications.
• Monitor order status and resolve discrepancies or delivery issues.

Inventory Management & Sales Analysis

• Monitor inventory levels, sales performance, turnover, and product demand.
• Analyze sales trends to guide future purchasing decisions and merchandise assortments.
• Maintain accurate inventory records and assist with regular inventory counts.
• Identify slow-moving merchandise and recommend appropriate promotional or markdown strategies.

Visual Merchandising & Retail Presentation

• Create attractive, organized, and engaging merchandise displays that enhance the shopping experience.
• Maintain a polished, professional retail environment consistent with Bentwater's standards.
• Ensure merchandise is properly priced, displayed, replenished, and presented.
• Coordinate seasonal displays and product presentations with the Golf Shop team.

Member Service & Team Collaboration

• Work closely with Golf Operations staff to understand member preferences, special requests, and purchasing trends.
• Support a welcoming, service-oriented environment that reflects Bentwater's culture of hospitality.
• Provide knowledgeable assistance with merchandise selection and product information as needed.
• Collaborate with the Golf Shop team to support retail promotions, tournaments, and special events.

Financial Accountability & Administration

• Monitor purchasing budgets, retail pricing, gross margins, and inventory investment.
• Maintain accurate purchasing documentation, pricing information, and inventory records.
• Utilize point-of-sale and inventory management systems to evaluate retail performance.
• Provide purchasing and sales information to Golf Operations leadership as needed.
