The Director of Philanthropy is a bold individual with an entrepreneurial approach to building out Saban Community Clinic’s (SCC) major gift fundraising program. They will forge authentic, trust-based relationships that align donor interests with SCC’s mission and growth priorities.
This role is for a relationship builder and proven closer—someone who doesn’t wait for opportunities but actively creates them. The ideal candidate is an authentic connector and a strategic prospector: equally skilled at opening new doors, identifying untapped donor potential, and converting relationships into transformational philanthropy.
Reporting to the Chief Marketing & Advancement Officer, this role will help shape and scale SCC’s major gift program by expanding the donor base, unlocking “hidden gems” within the database, and introducing new ideas, partnerships, and pathways for giving.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and execute an ambitious major gifts strategy with clear, measurable revenue goals
Actively builds and cultivates a portfolio of high-net-worth individual donors and family foundations with an emphasis on 5,6, and 7 figure gifts
Proactively build a pipeline - sourcing and engaging new major donor prospects through networking, referrals, events, and creative outreach strategies
Mine and analyze the donor database to identify under-engaged supporters and “hidden gems” ready for deeper investment
Identify and pursue new opportunities for additional philanthropic investment, including new initiatives, partnerships, and/or campaigns.
At the direction of the CMAO, manages donor communications, appeals and social media, related to fundraising and engagement building collateral.
Represents SCC at various community events, inter-agency meetings, and special events, as needed.
Collaborates with SCC’s Executive Team, the Board of Directors, the Board of the Friends of SCC to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward donors.
Collaborates with the CMAO on annual and multi-year strategic fundraising plans, which may include annual and capital campaigns, the planned giving program and fundraising events.
Documents donor interactions in Salesforce database, including all communication points, gift data entry, report generation, bulk mailings, donor gift acknowledgment, stewardship, and grant tracking.
Other duties as assigned by CMAO, including management of team members as assigned.
Position Requirements:
Bachelor’s level degree preferably marketing, nonprofit management, communications or related discipline and several years of experience in increasingly responsible positions. Advanced degree and/or certification professional preferred. Experience in health care or equivalent sectors preferred, but not required
7+ years of experience in major gifts or comparable front-line fundraising roles
Demonstrated success closing significant gifts and managing a large portfolio (5 –7 figure gifts)
Proven instincts and ability to build a donor pipeline, including identifying, qualifying and securing new donors
Extensive experience leveraging donor database and CRM systems (Salesforce NPSP and/or Raiser’s Edge) to drive data-informed fundraising strategy and enhance donor engagement and reporting.
Track record of converting relationships into philanthropic investment through thoughtful, strategic engagement
Proficiency in Planned Giving vehicles a plus
Deep expertise in fundraising strategy and best practices, with a demonstrated record of driving significant philanthropic growth.
Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in fundraising marketing and communications for a mid-size nonprofit.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and related productivity tools, with a strong understanding of relational databases and the strategic use of social media platforms to support engagement, communications, and fundraising objectives.
Very effective oral and written communications skills, including public speaking.
A working knowledge and experience in developing long-term relationships with organizations and companies that might provide support.

The range is subject to change.
