Location Overview:
Based in the 8th arrondissement and within the Parisian Golden Triangle, our beautiful Art-Deco era office benefits from luxury modern workspaces, an abundance of natural light and is easily accessible by public transport.
Role Description:
This job is responsible for providing second line of defence surveillance oversight across Global Markets activities through the review, investigation, and escalation of potential market abuse and conduct-related risks identified by surveillance monitoring processes. The role serves as a key escalation point for offshore surveillance teams and partners closely with Global Markets Compliance and Operational Risk (COR) to ensure the timely identification, assessment, and disposition of surveillance alerts in accordance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
Responsibilities:
- Review and assess escalated trade surveillance alerts from offshore surveillance teams to determine the presence of potential market abuse, conduct, regulatory, or reputational risks.
- Conduct detailed investigations of trading activity, communications, market events, and other relevant information to identify potential indicators of insider trading, market manipulation, information barrier breaches, or other misconduct.
- Prepare clear and comprehensive written assessments and investigation summaries for escalation to Global Markets Compliance and Operational Risk (COR).
- Provide independent challenge to alert dispositions, ensuring surveillance reviews are conducted consistently and in accordance with established policies, procedures, and regulatory expectations.
- Escalate significant surveillance concerns, unusual trading activity, and emerging risk themes to senior surveillance management and Global Markets COR in a timely manner.
- Partner with offshore surveillance teams to provide guidance, feedback, and training on surveillance processes, market abuse typologies, alert quality, and investigative best practices.
- Monitor surveillance alert trends and identify potential gaps, inefficiencies, or emerging risks requiring enhancements to surveillance coverage, thresholds, or methodologies.
- Support thematic reviews and deep-dive investigations relating to specific products, trading desks, clients, traders, or market abuse risk areas.
- Maintain accurate and auditable records of investigations, decisions, and escalation outcomes in accordance with regulatory recordkeeping requirements.
- Engage with Front Line Unit (FLU), Compliance, Legal, and Risk stakeholders to obtain information relevant to surveillance investigations and support effective risk assessment.
- Assist in responding to internal audit reviews, regulatory inquiries, examinations, and requests relating to trade surveillance activities and investigations.
- Remain informed of applicable regulatory developments, enforcement actions, and market abuse trends to ensure surveillance investigations reflect evolving regulatory expectations and industry best practices.
- Contribute to ongoing enhancements of surveillance processes, procedures, analytics, and controls to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the surveillance program.
What we are looking for:
- Several years experience in as similar role
- French language proficiency is mandatory for this role.
