Position Summary
The Community Engagement Officer strengthens connections between Bellevue Schools Foundation and the broader community, including board members, volunteers, and ambassadors. This role serves as staff liaison to the Board of Trustees and facilitates the Foundation’s Ambassador Program, a volunteer leadership group that champions the Foundation throughout the year and organizes the Spring for Schools gala.
This role focuses on volunteer leadership, community visibility, and engagement that supports fundraising growth.
Primary Responsibilities
Board Liaison and Engagement
- Serve as staff liaison to the Board of Trustees in coordination with the Executive Director
- Support board communications, engagement opportunities, and participation in fundraising
- Assist with trustee onboarding and ongoing engagement initiatives
- Coordinate trustee involvement in campaigns and events
Ambassador Program Facilitation
- Facilitate the Foundation’s Ambassador volunteer group
- Support ambassadors in their role as year-round champions of the Foundation
- Coordinate ambassador-led fundraising and outreach activities
- Provide structure, communication, and tools to support ambassador success
- Partner with ambassadors in planning and executing the Spring for Schools Gala
Volunteer and Community Engagement
- Recruit, train, and support volunteers across Foundation initiatives
- Develop strategies to deepen community participation and awareness
- Coordinate volunteer roles for events and campaigns
Spring for Schools Gala Support
- Support ambassador leadership in organizing the gala
- Oversee photography/video project for Gala
- Coordinate volunteer engagement and logistics for the event
- Assist with guest experience and community outreach
Collaboration and Reporting
- Track volunteer engagement metrics and participation
- Collaborate with development team to align outreach with fundraising goals
- Provide updates for board and committee reports
- Lead story gathering and production of Annual Giving Report
BSD Liaison and Engagement
- Serve as staff liaison to BSD communications, principals and office managers in coordination with the Executive Director.
- Build and maintain relationships with school leaders, staff, and district partners to strengthen engagement and awareness of Foundation initiatives
- Partner with BSD to align messaging and ensure consistent, timely communication to the school community
Requirements
Qualifications
- 2+ years of nonprofit, community engagement, or volunteer management experience
- Strong organizational and relationship-building skills
- Experience working with boards or volunteer leadership groups preferred
- Excellent communication and coordination abilities
