Description
Build the Wave is a political consulting firm specializing in grassroots fundraising and digital programs for campaigns and progressive organizations. We’re looking for a Campaign Manager to oversee a competitive red-to-blue New York State Senate campaign on Long Island through Election Day. This is a top-tier race, in one of the most competitve legislative districts in the state.
Prior Experience: Applicants must have experience working on at least one political or advocacy campaign in a full-time capacity. Prior experience as a Campaign Manager is not required, and we encourage candidates who are ready to step into a campaign management role for the first time.
Timeline: We are seeking a Campaign Manager who can begin no later than September 14th.

Important: While preference will be given to those residing on Long Island or in the NYC area, qualified applicants willing to relocate temporarily to Long Island are strongly encouraged to apply. The campaign will assist with temporary housing.
Requirements
The Campaign Manager will work closely with the candidate and our consulting team to build and execute a winning campaign strategy.
The ideal candidate is a strong manager and problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced campaign environment, can keep multiple departments moving toward the same goals, and understands what it takes to win a competitive suburban race.
Responsibilities
- Manage the campaign's day-to-day operations and serve as the primary point of coordination between the candidate, staff, consultants, and key stakeholders.
- Work with senior consultants and the candidate to develop and execute the overall campaign strategy and path to victory.
- Develop and maintain the campaign calendar, ensuring political, fundraising, communications, field, and voter-contact priorities remain on schedule.
- Recruit, manage, and supervise campaign staff, interns, fellows, and volunteers while creating a positive, accountable, and results-oriented campaign culture.
- Oversee the campaign's field and voter-contact operation, including canvassing, phone banking, volunteer recruitment, voter registration, early voting, absentee voting, and GOTV.
- Coordinate closely with the finance team and candidate to meet fundraising goals, manage call time, cultivate donors, and prepare for fundraising deadlines and events.
- Work with communications and digital consultants to execute the campaign's messaging strategy across earned media, paid media, email, text, digital advertising, social media, and direct mail.
- Build and maintain relationships with elected officials, Democratic committees, labor organizations, advocacy groups, community organizations, clubs, and other local stakeholders.
- Track campaign metrics and regularly evaluate progress toward voter-contact, fundraising, volunteer, and organizational goals.
- Help manage the campaign budget and ensure resources are being deployed effectively
Requirements
- Strong organizational and project-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
- Demonstrated ability to manage staff, volunteers, consultants, and complex projects.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with candidates, staff, consultants, elected officials, party leaders, volunteers, and community stakeholders.
- Strong political judgment and the ability to make decisions in a fast-moving environment.
- Willingness to work long and irregular hours, including nights and weekends, particularly as Election Day approaches.
- Ability to work primarily in person on Long Island and travel throughout the district.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
