Arnold & Porter is seeking a Business Development Specialist to support a broad range of marketing and business development initiatives, with a primary focus on the Life Sciences & Healthcare Regulatory and Product Liability Litigation practice groups. The Specialist may be located in our New York or Washington, DC office.
This role partners closely with Business Development Managers, attorneys, and cross-functional teams to enhance the firm’s market presence and support client development efforts. The position is heavily focused on pitches and proposals, legal directory submissions, and the coordination of events and sponsorships, while also contributing to broader marketing initiatives across the firm.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Pitches, Proposals & RFPs
Support the full lifecycle of RFPs, pitches, and proposals from planning through submission
Collaborate with attorneys and marketing colleagues to develop tailored, client-focused materials
Identify and refine relevant content to ensure accuracy, consistency, and responsiveness
Coordinate research, data, and pricing inputs with internal stakeholders
Manage production, delivery, and recordkeeping of final submissions
Track outcomes and support post-submission follow-up efforts
Practice Group & Business Development Support
Partner with Business Development Managers to support strategic marketing initiatives
Assist with sponsorships, presentations, and targeted client development efforts
Submissions & Rankings
Collect and coordinate information for submissions to directories such as Chambers, The Legal 500, and Law360
Support drafting and submission processes to ensure high-quality, timely deliverables
Events & Programming
Coordinate logistics for in-person and virtual events, including conferences, webinars, and sponsorships
Provide on-site and virtual support for internal and external programs
CRM & Data Management
Maintain and update the firm’s CRM and experience database (Foundation)
Develop targeted contact lists to support business development initiatives
Marketing Materials & Communications
Assist in drafting and editing newsletters and client communications
Update and maintain marketing collateral, including brochures, presentations, attorney bios, and experience lists
Ensure all materials align with firm branding and quality standards
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree required
Minimum of three years of experience in marketing, business development, or client relations, preferably within a law firm or professional services environment
Experience supporting Life Sciences & Healthcare Regulatory and Product Liability Litigation practices is a plus
Strong writing, editing, and organizational skills
High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with AI tools
Experience with CRM systems and marketing databases (e.g., Foundation) preferred
Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels
Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work both independently and collaboratively
Demonstrated sound judgment and discretion in handling confidential information

The anticipated base salary for this position is $82,000 to $110,000. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.

The firm may provide a discretionary bonus annually.
