Description
OverviewFlorence Country Club is seeking a motivated, service-minded Assistant Golf Professional who wants more than simply their next job. We are looking for an emerging golf professional who wants to grow, take on meaningful responsibility, and intentionally prepare for the next step in their career.
This position is designed to provide hands-on experience across the full scope of a private club golf operation. The successful candidate will work closely with the Director of Golf and gain meaningful exposure to budgeting and financial management, tournament operations, staff leadership and scheduling, member engagement, merchandising, teaching and player development, junior programming, and the daily management of the golf operation.
Our goal is not simply to hire someone to help operate the golf department. Our goal is to develop a golf professional.
The Assistant Golf Professional will be given real responsibility, consistent mentorship, and opportunities to participate in the decisions and processes that drive a successful golf operation. Whether learning how to build and manage a department budget, lead a major tournament, train and develop staff, create member programming, analyze the golf operation, or strengthen relationships throughout the club, this individual will be encouraged to understand not only what we do, but why we do it.
Florence Country Club offers an excellent opportunity for a PGA Associate or emerging professional who is ambitious, curious, highly service-oriented, and eager to build a comprehensive understanding of the private club industry.
The position will include significant involvement in:
- Tournament planning, administration, execution, scoring, and communication
- Golf department budgeting, financial management, and operational planning
- Staff leadership, training, scheduling, accountability, and culture development
- Daily golf shop and outside-services operations
- Member engagement and relationship building
- Teaching, club fitting, and player development
- Junior golf programming and development
- Merchandising, buying, inventory management, and retail strategy
- Golf Genius and golf technology
- Collaboration with golf course maintenance and other club departments
- Club communications, marketing, and promotion of golf programming
- PGA education and professional development
- Building relationships throughout the Carolinas PGA Section and broader golf industry
The Assistant Golf Professional will also serve as a highly visible ambassador for Florence Country Club. We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys being around people, takes pride in providing exceptional service, brings positive energy to the club each day, and understands that the strongest golf professionals build their careers through both operational excellence and relationships.
This is a development-focused position with the expectation that the successful candidate will continue to grow professionally and eventually be prepared to pursue greater leadership opportunities within the PGA and private club industry.
For the right individual, Florence Country Club is an opportunity to learn the entire operation, contribute to it, take ownership of meaningful responsibilities, and build the foundation for a successful career in golf.
