Job Summary/Description:

This is a salaried, management position. This Assignments Manager plans the assignments for the KLTV and KTRE news crews for the following day and into the future. Planning is big in our newsroom. The Futures Assignments Manager gathers and manages all reporter pitches and supervises the pitch approval process to plan the coming days of assignments.

This position manages reporter pitches and approves those pitches for the following day. This position keeps the futures file packed with follow-ups, emailed press releases, future court dates, etc. The Futures Assignments Manager issues a daily planning grid each afternoon for the following day's assignments. This person also guides and assists MMJs in daily assignments, changes, pivots, etc. All managers of the KLTV/KTRE newsroom take on a remote "weekend manager" role on a rotating basis, approximately every 6-7 weeks, as part of normal duties.

Qualifications/Requirements:

- At least 2 years of experience working in a professional newsroom environment
- Must be organized and keep a calendar
- Regular newscast viewing, keeping up with local, national, and global events, is a must.
- Reasonable accessibility by phone after hours.
