Company Overview
Project RED is a U.S.-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving children and families in El Salvador. Founded in 2011, Project RED has grown from a small grassroots effort into an established organization with a team of Salvadoran professionals providing long-term, trauma-informed support to families facing complex challenges related to violence, poverty, family separation, and instability.
Through Reintegration, Education, and Development, Project RED works to strengthen families, protect children, and help create the conditions for children to grow up in safe and permanent families. Our multidisciplinary teams provide individualized support that may include social work, mental health care, legal advocacy, education, and practical assistance.
Project RED is deeply relationship-centered in both its programs and its organizational culture. Our work is rooted in faith, guided by the values of Mercy, Justice, Humility, and Integrity, and sustained by a committed community of donors and partners primarily in the United States. As we celebrate 15 years of service, we are entering an important season of growth and building the leadership and relationships that will help carry this work into its next chapter.
Company History
Project RED was founded in El Salvador in 2011 with a simple commitment to respond to the needs of children and families who were falling through the gaps of existing systems. What began as a small, grassroots effort grew through relationships with families, local communities, government institutions, and a dedicated network of supporters in the United States.
Over the past 15 years, Project RED has developed a comprehensive model of family strengthening that combines professional social work, mental health care, legal advocacy, education, and practical support. As the organization has grown, its approach has also deepened, becoming increasingly trauma-informed and focused on long-term, sustainable change within families rather than short-term assistance.
Today, Project RED serves families through regional teams in El Salvador and is recognized by local institutions as a trusted partner in complex cases involving child protection and family stability. The organization’s growth has been sustained primarily through a deeply committed community of individual donors in the United States, many of whom have supported the work for years. Fundraising has historically grown through personal relationships, word of mouth, and connections to Project RED’s founder and existing community rather than through a traditional development department.
As Project RED enters its next chapter, the organization is intentionally investing in development leadership to broaden this community, build new relationships and partnerships, and build upon the strong foundation of trust established over the past 15 years.
