Company Overview

Local Public (https://www.localpublic.tv/) is a Public Benefit Corporation dedicated to transforming public media for the post-broadcast age. With broadcast in sharp decline, local public media must evolve to survive. Our streaming apps-as-a-service platform empowers nonprofit PBS and dual licensee PBS/NPR broadcasters to run locally curated, member-supported streaming services that develop the next generation of viewers and supporters.

Company History

Local Public was created and incubated within Cascade PBS, the Seattle-based station serving the Cascadia region in the U.S. and Canada. We originally built apps for our own station. Then, supported by ten Founding Sponsor partner stations (https://www.localpublic.tv/partners/), we launched the Local Streaming Initiative (LSI), which expanded our platform to serve stations nationwide.

On July 1, 2026, we launched as a separate company, Local Public, a Public Benefit Corporation.
