Elementary School American Assistant Principal: Assistant principal duties including scheduling, attendance, daily substitute plan and part-time teaching. The Asst. Principal is a key member of our leadership team in implementing our strategic goals and objectives. As well, he/she will sit on key committees and interact with both the German and American families and administration. This is a two-year contract with potential to renew for an unlimited contract.
Strongly Desired:
Six years of full-time recent teacher/ administrator experience (within the last 5 years) in a U.S. public school at the level and in the subject area for which the application is being made. Responsibilities
School-wide Organization in the Elementary School:
Develop and regularly revise master schedule Create substitution plans (Assistant) Organize supervision Coordinate with Hort (wrap around care provider) Administer attendance software (Webuntis) Develop common documentation processes for admin and teachers Assist in teacher hiring processes Assist in report card process
Committees and Conference Participation:
Organize and participate in class conferences as needed Attend and contribute to School Development meetings and documentation Coordinate with new teacher program
Academic Quality Assurance:
Assist in the planning, organizing and carrying out workshops, study days and further training for the teaching staff Lead language assessment testing team and operational side of admissions testing Conduct classroom visits on behalf of the principal (as asked) Approve class tests English & Math: Grades 3-6 Organize visits and cooperation with other schools to widen our community of learning
Internal and External Communications:
Lead the daily announcements (mainly) Organize various community events Contribute to the weekly bulletin for teachers Organize parent evenings & parent-teacher Conferences
Teaching, Supervision, and Discipline:
Elementary Teacher (14 hours / week) Supervisions First admin responder for student discipline (American)
The John F. Kennedy School was founded in 1960, as a bilingual and bi-cultural, German – American public school. The school serves ca. 1600 students in two buildings. The elementary school is made up of grades K – 6 and the high school contains grades 7 – 12. The student body is composed of mainly German and American students. The school has a faculty of more than 150 teachers, including ca. 75 Americans and 83 Germans. The high school and elementary schools each have an American principal and a German principal, as well as, corresponding assistant principals.
