Position: Development Manager
Employee Type: Full-time, Salaried, Exempt, Non-union
Reports To: Director of Advancement
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 10:30 am - 6:30 pm (some flexibility in regular hours, by arrangement with supervisor); weekend and evening hours periodically required; in person with some hybrid flexibility
Salary: $72,000
Position Overview:
The Center for Fiction seeks a Development Manager to oversee the implementation of its fundraising strategy. Reporting to the Director of Development, the Development Manager is a core member of a small, high-functioning team responsible for securing and stewarding the contributed revenue that makes CFF's work possible. You will own the grants portfolio end-to-end, manage projects including key components of the organization's flagship fundraising events, and keep development operations running smoothly.
Responsibilities
- Own the full grant lifecycle: prospect research, calendar management, proposal writing, submission, and reporting.
- Oversee development operations with support of Administrative Assistant, including: donor and gift records, reporting, gift receipt and acknowledgment, and more.
- Project manage components of the Annual Awards Benefit and the First Novel Fête, driving $1M+ in contributed revenue.
- Manage special projects in the Development department, including programmatic sponsorships, annual giving campaigns, and more.
- Create and maintain written fundraising collateral and donor materials.
- Supervise the Development Administrative Assistant.

Required Qualifications
- 5 years of work experience in nonprofit fundraising and development.
- Demonstrated experience in grants management, research, proposals, grant writing, and reporting.
- Proven track record of successfully managing projects and realizing goals and deadlines.
- Sophisticated understanding of grants, giving campaigns, and special event logistics.
- Excellent communication and organization skills.
Preferred Requirements
- Experience supervising direct reports
Other Requirements
- Office-based roles: This role requires the ability to sit for extended periods, use a computer, communicate verbally and in writing, and occasionally lift or move items up to 20 pounds.
- This role also at times requires sustained standing and walking, as well as interaction with the public.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $72,000
The Center for Fiction offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes:
