Paralegal/Legal Assistant

The Legal Assistant based out the corporate office in Cary, NC, is responsible for providing exceptional legal administrative support to the company’s Chief Legal Officer while exercising a high degree of discretion and confidentiality. The successful candidate will work closely and collaboratively in a fast-paced, exciting environment. They will serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external constituents on matters pertaining to the CLO, including conducting legal research, legal drafting, Board communications, updating case descriptions, corresponding with outside counsel and inside stakeholders. 


  • Support the CLO by representing the office with exceptional customer service, interpersonal savvy and efficiency, and attention to detail.
  • Assist in-house and outside counsel in all aspects of managing pre-suit claims and litigation matters.
  • Research and collect appropriate job files and other information to respond to interrogatories, requests for admissions, and requests for production of documents.
  • Review third party subpoenas for legal sufficiency and assist in gathering documents and information to respond in a timely manner.
  • Assist attorneys with complex case and project management, such as investigation, discovery, assembling documents for production and exhibits for trial, witness testimony, mediation, and trial preparation.
  • Review settlement agreements and prepare correspondence.
  • Maintain and update case docket, manage records and prepare quarterly reports on pre-suit claims and litigation matters.
  • Manage busy and complex calendar including arranging and rearranging appointments as needed for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Create presentation materials and agendas for Board meetings.
  • Draft written consents and other corporate documentation.
  • Assist on due diligence matters.
  • Manage, reconcile, and submit expense reports for the CLO, process bills, order supplies, and general office support.
  • Responsible for travel arrangements, lodging, and transportation; assemble packets of information and prepare materials including itineraries.
  • Communicate on behalf of the CLO with both internal and external constituents, including the Board of Directors. This includes both written and verbal communications.
  • Draft letters, memos, documents, and various reports requiring knowledge of methods, procedures, policies, and the nature of business of the organization.
  • Handle incoming and outgoing phone and electronic communications while exercising and maintaining the highest level of confidentiality.
  • Work closely and collaborate with leaders and other colleagues in support of special assignments and support for the CLO and the organization.



  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or minimum 10+ years in a corporate environment supporting executives at the top executive level
  • Professional demeanor and ability to maintain confidentiality always
  • Strong time management skills (proven abilities to prioritize tasks, multitask, meet deadlines, work independently, proactively, and reliably)
  • Ability to proactively anticipate needs of and opportunities for CLO
  • Ability to build and maintain business relationships and be calm and flexible under pressure and amidst changing priorities
  • Intellectual curiosity and ability to think outside the box
  • Advanced computer skills using Windows, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to conduct legal research
  • Experience with Intelligize, Directors Desk and/or Workiva a plus
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Adaptive to changing environments
  • High attention to detail, strong organizational and multi-tasking skills, proactive, positive, strong follow-through, and highly professional
  • Work independently and as part of a cross-functional team and be able to work in a fast-paced environment working under strict deadlines
  • Experience with electronic discovery and e-discovery processing systems
  • Experience with case management/e-billings software
