Primary purpose of the position ALGA delivers two signature events each year: the National General Assembly (3 day event in Canberra with over 1300 conference delegates) and the National Local Roads, Transport and Infrastructure Congress (annual 2 day even in regional locations).
Throughout the year, the events manager also supports other public-facing ALGA events and products as required, such as online webinars or roundtables with Ministers.
The key focus of the role is to lead and coordinate our major events, ensuring seamless delivery of operational, logistical, and program elements. This includes contract management of our event provider and stakeholders management of our sponsors and suppliers.
You will also be responsible for drafting key communication documents related to the events including correspondence, promotional collateral, speeches, talking points, website and social media channels content.
Above all, as a representative of ALGA, you will build trusted relationships with partners and stakeholders, including Federal Government and relevant peak bodies.
This position works within a close-knit and dynamic team with a high amount of delegated responsibility. Regular communication within this team and with other key ALGA personnel is essential.
Requirements
Key responsibilities The Events Officer will work closely with the Head of Strategic Communications and Governance for the end-to-end delivery of the ALGA events program. This includes:
developing and maintaining a detailed implementation work plan, delivery schedule and risk register coordinating national promotion and engagement activities to increase awareness and uptake of ALGA events contract management of our significant contract with an external events team working closely with internal ALGA teams (including media and communications) to ensure consistent messaging and effective dissemination establishing and implementing an evaluation approach that measures reach (awareness and engagement) and perceived value/impact of our events working closely with the Manager of Finance to ensure accountability, including procurement/contract coordination if required, and ensuring milestones and deliverables are met on time and within budget identify, secure and grow sponsorship, partnership and exhibitor opportunities, including developing tailored proposals and negotiating mutually beneficial agreements.
