Description
OverviewThe New Jersey Section is beginning the search for a Tournament Coordinator which is a full-time seasonal position that runs from approx. May 1 st - November 1st. We are seeking an individual who is extremely passionate about the game of golf, PGA Professionals and Junior Golf. The candidate must also enjoy interacting with fellow staff members, PGA Professionals, junior players, parents and other stakeholders in the business and will deliver exceptional customer service to all those we service. The successful candidate will also serve as a mentor to the collegiate interns and part time staff members whom they will oversee when serving as the lead staff member at a variety of events throughout the year.
The New Jersey Section, PGA of America covers the central and northern part of the State of New Jersey and includes nearly 250 facilities with 414 PGA Members and 144 PGA Associates. Their offices relocated to a brand new office building which is located on-site at the Fiddler's Elbow Country Club in 2016 and includes individual office space, a conference room and three state of the art indoor/outdoor hitting bays.
Experience Required
Including, but not limited to, the following:
- Experience with tournament management software such as BlueGolf or Golf Genius preferred
- Experience working for a golf association or local golf course/country club is strongly preferred
- A proven track record of recruiting, staffing and training individuals
- Excellent personality, interpersonal and communication skills
- Experienced in written and oral business communications
- Energetic individual with superb customer service skills
- Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds and work outside in hot and cold environments
Essential Responsibilities
The Tournament Coordinator will report to the Director; Tournaments & Championships as well as the Director; Junior Golf & Player Engagement. They will be responsible for the administration of a variety of programs including, but not limited to, Section PGA Professionals tournaments, the New Jersey PGA Junior Tour, US Kids Summer Local Tour and Drive Chip & Putt competitions. Additional time to support events conducted by the NJ Golf Foundation may be required throughout the year
- Event Management
- Confirm event setup such as food & beverage services, golf & clubhouse needs as well as pricing for budget purposes, which has already been setup by the respective Director mentioned above
- Administer Section Professional Tournaments and Junior Tour Events in Blue Golf tournament management system
- Prepare all on-site needs such as scorecards, hole location/rule sheets, score sheets (if applicable), sponsor signage, etc. for events where the Tournament Support Staff will serve as the lead staff member
- Complete post event tasks such as awarding ROLEX Player of the Year points (Assistant and/or Senior POY as well), Junior Player of the Year points, Junior Golf Scoreboard points, AJGA stars and wrap up reports
- Communicate with the Director; Communications regarding any post event social media needs
- Customer Service
- Consistently answer all phone calls, emails or requests in a timely manner and provide them with the best possible service.
- Understand all Section policies to ensure all requests are within the club policies set forward.
- Communicate all requests with Director; Tournaments & Championships and/or Director; Junior Golf & Player Engagement if unsure of proper procedure.
- Overall
- Other responsibilities to support general office administration and NJ Golf Foundation programs when time permits.
