If you enjoy working with team members whose defining characteristics are exceptional client service, initiative, professionalism, responsiveness, and adaptability, you may be the person we are seeking to join our Commercial department in our Chicago office, as a Specialist: Internal Communications.
Reporting to the Manager of Internal Communications, the Specialist: Internal Communications will serve as a content creator, site publisher and production assistant to support the Firm’s key internal communications channels.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
- Editorial and Content: Produce high-quality internal content as a contributing writer, editor and researcher for various internal channels, including a global weekly newsletter, the Firm’s intranet, email communications and other channels in development
- Multimedia Production: Assist with podcast and video production, including scheduling guests, editing recordings and drafting episode liner notes
- Publishing and Formatting: Assist with site publishing and formatting for internal publications, podcasts and other firm news
- Support various internal campaigns and promotions
- Track readership analytics and help maintain internal content master files and databases
- Collaborate closely with broader Commercial/Business Development & Marketing team (e.g., graphic design and multimedia colleagues) and other departments (e.g., IT, HR) on a project basis
- Additional duties as assigned by the Manager of Internal Communications
Qualifications
Education/Training/Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, English or a related field. A combination of education and/or experience may be considered in lieu of the degree when the experience has been directly related to the functions of the role
Professional Experience:
- 3-5 years of marketing and communications experience, preferably within a law firm or professional services environment
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
- Microsoft 365 platforms, such as SharePoint (preferred)
- Photography and photo-editing experience (preferred)
- Basic understanding of HTML (preferred)
Performance Traits:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to communicate effectively and in a professional manner with all levels of the Firm and outside vendors
- Ability to work in a diverse team environment and effectively support the demanding needs of the Firm
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines with shifting priorities
- Must be a self-starter with a high level of initiative
- Strong customer service skills, able to anticipate needs and exercise independent judgment
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects
- Maintains confidentiality and exercises discretion
- Exercises solid strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated good judgment, a team-first orientation, meticulous and results driven.
The typical pay scale for this position is between $85,000 and $113,000, although the actual wage or salary could be lower or higher if the candidate’s education, experience, skills and internal pay alignment are different from those specified.
