Description

From the exceptional service at the check-in counter to the departure gate, and even behind the scenes making sure your checked bags arrive with you, our Airport Operations team keeps operations at our airports running smoothly every single day.
The Senior Regional Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing airport operations across 30-40 business partner managed locations, ensuring operational excellence, safety compliance, and strategic alignment with United Airlines' standards and objectives. Responsibility includes building and maintaining strong relationships with business partners and airport authority/government agencies, serving as primary liaison to ensure contractual compliance, performance standards, and service level agreements are met and across all internal departments and operational groups. Sr Regional Managers are responsible to conduct regular site visits and audits to assess operational performance, identify improvement opportunities, and provide coaching and guidance to business partner leadership teams.
- Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for 30-40 business partner managed airport locations, ensuring consistent delivery of safe, reliable, and efficient ground operations

- Lead strategic safety initiatives and ensure compliance with all FAA regulations, company policies, and industry standards driving a strong and sustainable safety culture across all managed locations
- Manage crisis response and irregular operations, providing leadership and coordination during weather events, operational disruptions, and emergency situations. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including, but not limited to, Network Operations, Customer Service, Safety, Inflight and Flight Operations during such events
- Drive operational performance through data analysis, identifying trends and implementing corrective actions to improve key metrics including on-time performance, baggage handling, customer satisfaction, and safety. Develop and execute strategic plans to optimize operational efficiency, resource allocation, and cost management while maintaining service quality
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and accountability across all managed locations
- Domestic Travel: 60 - 80%
Qualifications
What's needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
- Bachelor's degree or 4 years of relevant work experience
- Aviation, Transportation, Business or relevant experience required
- 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in Airport Operations or Aviation Industry
- Strong understanding of airport operations, ground handling procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with ability to influence at all organizational levels
- Demonstrated ability to lead through change and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to travel up to 80% to managed locations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and operational management systems
- Knowledge of key Airport Operations performance, finance, safety, AO Balanced Scorecard, and resource planning activities and metrics or previous experience supporting an operating group
- Proven track record as an innovator and problem solver
- Excellent written, oral communications and presentation skills
- Adapt to metric driven culture and strategic thinking
- Demonstrated leadership consistent with the United leadership model
- Strong business acumen
- Must be willing and able to travel 80% domestic
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
- Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualifications
- Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

- Master's degree
- Previous or current regional oversight, station general manager
- Excellent analytical skills with ability to interpret operational data and drive decision-making; Proven track record managing vendor/business partner relationships and driving performance improvements
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and build relationships across all levels of the organization
The base pay range for this role is $127,870.00 to $166,492.00.
The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
