We are seeking a talented copy editor who is a confident headline and summary writer, an expert on AP style and understands how to make the most of digital content.

This job is based in Chicago.

Position Description

• Proofread stories, text within videos, and social media content
• Craft compelling and searchable headlines and subheads that inform, encourage readers to click into story, and have a tone that reflects the NewsNation identity.
• Write headlines and captions on YouTube that inform and convince people to watch
• Utilize SEO best practices.
• Edit wire and local network-affiliated content for a national audience to ensure standards for journalistic integrity and production quality are met.
• Social media publishing
• Homepage management
• Clip broadcast segments for publishing across all digital platforms and social media channels.

Qualifications

• 3+ years working as a copy editor or similar role in a major newsroom
• Work in national newsrooms and, specifically, national televisions newsrooms is a plus
• Strong knowledge of search engine optimization
• Experience working with content management systems like WordPress
• Experience working with video inside Anvato, BitCentral, OBS or Latakoo a plus.
• Excellent communicator, both oral written
• Salary Range: $60,000 - $70,000 Annually
