POSITION OVERVIEW

Graham Media Group in Market #15 Orlando, Florida, is looking for a Weekday Morning News Producer.

You know this role at WKMG News 6 is a fit for you if you already have a good grasp of the fundamentals of broadcast television producing and enjoy the thrill of deadlines and live television. But you're also ready to roll up your sleeves and expand your own skills, leveraging cutting-edge technology and AI to produce streaming and digital content in addition to the morning news.

This modern approach to line producing doesn't leave you burned out. Instead, it empowers you to innovate new ways to produce and showcase content - and break news! And you'll be doing it with a large morning news team that includes anchors, reporters, photojournalists, weather & traffic experts, producers, directors, editors, and a robust support system of newsroom leaders and coaches who are veteran reporters and producers with a combined century of local journalism experience between them!

The team's ultimate goal is to ensure News 6 is the top-tier local news service that grows audiences everywhere our content is consumed. The News 6 brand focuses on advanced storytelling that captures ‘real life' in Central Florida, and this accurate and impactful local journalism holds leaders, stakeholders, and businesses accountable, while informing, protecting, and improving our communities for the better.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

• Competitive pay and benefits.
• Produce live, local television newscasts Monday-Friday mornings.
• Produce live and curated local news content on News 6+, our connected-TV and digital streaming service, and our website ClickOrlando.com, which delivers one of the largest audiences of unique visitors in Central Florida.
• Influence how reporters, anchors, and other newsroom staff develop local stories, and showcase those stories in ways that engage audiences on different platforms.
• Help lead the charge in driving breaking news urgently and accurately across platforms in a busy market.

WHAT YOU BRING

• Prior experience as a producer in at least 2 newsrooms and confidence in a live news control room.
• A sharp, conversational writing style and an ability to leverage process language that showcases journalists at work and the value they're bringing viewers.
• Able to work in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment, managing deadline pressures and frequent changes.
• Fast learning curve when it comes to new technology.
• Multi-skilled in ways that stretch beyond the traditional role of "broadcast news producer" (shooting, editing, streaming, planning, etc).
• Strong communicator and self-starter who puts the team first and works hard to ensure the product is high-quality.
• Can blend good broadcast journalism with modern innovations in showcasing and content distribution that grow a station brand.
• A strong sense of curiosity and an ability to find information on your own, verify the validity of sources, and communicate that information accurately to others.
• Willingness to work outside of scheduled hours as breaking news or station efforts require.

BONUS POINTS IF YOU HAVE:

• Proficiency in multiple newsroom and digital content management systems.
• A college degree in journalism.
