FIELD SERVICE ENGINEER
Position Summary: Provide state-of-the-art onsite services (installation, preventive maintenance, break-fix/troubleshooting call-out, site survey etc.) and technical support to customers on our range of barcode scanning and camera products, in particular our range of Stationary Industrial Scanners.
This is a remote/heavy travel position on customer sites
Essential duties and responsibilities:
Install (mechanical, cabling), configure, calibrate, and execute start-up commissioning of Datalogic equipment at customer site as per pre-defined specifications
Maintain, adjust, and replace onsite Datalogic devices of existing customer systems
Conduct Preventive Maintenance for on-site Datalogic equipment
Conduct troubleshooting for software and equipment at customer sites
Provide training to on-site customer personnel when required
Conduct site-surveys when required
Participate in formal quarterly training and other training events as required
Follow rigorously safety and security onsite company procedures
Escalate to upper technical level problems that can’t be solved independently
Issue timely and accurate service reports (including expenses report)
Extend or help building a respectful relationship with customer by always adopting an exemplary attitude
Qualifications
Education (School/Specialization)
Associate or Bachelor’s degree (in a technical field such as electronics/networking preferred but not required) or trade school/military equivalent
Years of Experience
Preferred is 3+ years of prior experience on Field Service Activities in automation or other similar market with Electrical and Electronical devices
Travel Requirement
85% + travel
OTHER INFORMATION & SPECIFIC SKILLS
Electrical Schematics reading
Proficient in hand tool usage
Troubleshooting and diagnostic experience of hardware and software
Remote PC diagnostic and remedy support
Good understanding of computer networks
PLC communications experience: Ethernet IP, Device-net, Profinet, Profibus
Experience working with auto ID products
Proficient in Microsoft Office Software (MS Dynamics is a plus)
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Willing to work during alternative work schedules such as weekend and/or overnight
