Basic function & Scope
The Director of Golf will oversee the performance of all golf operations and services including golf course maintenance. The position will promote an exceptional golf experience and provide services and programs for all members:
- Professional guidance and teaching skills
- The desired administrative and support facilities
- Oversee the management of all golf shop operations and maintenance
- Be responsible for the performance of the golf shop operations, golf services, and the condition of the course
- Recruit, hire, train, and supervise golf department heads, including the Head Golf Professional, Director of Instruction, Outside Service Manager, and Course Superintendent (in some circumstances)
- Oversee all fiscal responsibilities and performance for the golf operation including planning, budgeting, forecasting, monitoring, and corrective management, and payroll.
- Oversee an innovative tournament program that services all customer segments.
- Oversee all operational policies, procedures, controls, and fee structures.
Experience Required
Work experience and training:
5 years of experience being a Head Golf Professional at a private facility.
Minimum education:
College degree and an active member of the PGA of America
Technical skills: (typing, computer skills, etc.):
Average typing skills and creative writing skills. Proficient in excel and word programs.
Other special training and/or abilities:
Formal training in teaching the game of golf.

In the role of Director of Golf you will be forward facing, around people the entire day. The clientele's expectations are remarkably high and demanding making it vital for this individual to think on his/her feet and be accommodating to many wants and needs throughout the day.
Essential Responsibilities
Responsibilities of the job:
- Golf Shop responsibilities: Retail sales of a full line of golf equipment and apparel; oversee the special-order program to maximize member service; oversee inventory control and maintenance of records system for monthly accounts payable; oversee the supervision of payroll records for all golf shop and outside service personnel).
- Provide staff leadership: Counsel and advice in the planning, implementation, and execution of all golf related program events and tournaments for the season.
- Work closely with the course superintendent to assure the members have the best playing conditions day to day. Also coordinate and manage the golf calendar with the maintenance schedule for daily and yearly events.
- Coordinate and ensure all written correspondence, reporting, newsletters, and communications for the golf operations and course maintenance.
- Play rounds of golf with members and guests.
- Enforcement of the established rules and regulations governing the use of the golf course and the playing thereon.
- Golf instruction: Provide individual private golf instruction with the enhancement of video and the latest teaching technology; oversee the implementation of instruction clinics for all levels of players; develop and train professional staff as professional instructors)
- Oversee the staff monitoring and control pace of play standards on the course set forth by the Golf Committee.
- Represent The Bridges in chapter and section PGA tournaments.
- Work directly with Membership Director in the promotion of new golf memberships and golf marketing initiatives including promotional material and events
- Able to react to change productively and manage other essential tasks as needed
