- Communications & Outreach Manager
Description
The Communications & Outreach Manager position is focused on implementing and designing communications efforts and collateral for KNOX, Inc., as well as for an initiative engaging multiple organizations across Hartford. Core duties will include leading the implementation of social media strategy, developing content, community outreach, and administrative work to support KNOX efforts. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for plants, the environment, and enhancing the lives of others to the position.
Responsibilities:
Managing KNOX Outreach & Communications
- Serve as primary content creator for KNOX written and video communications.
- Manage KNOX’s digital presence, update and create new posts for the website, Facebook, Instagram, and other appropriate venues.
- Coordinate web presence and website updates with vendors and staff.
- Promote KNOX programs and volunteer opportunities, including representing KNOX at community events and outreach efforts to help recruit program participants.
- Design print and electronic newsletters to engage donors and community members in KNOX projects.
- Manage KNOX Ambassador program to engage volunteers and staff in tabling to promote KNOX at events.
- Assist in donor communication, including using DonorPerfect CRM to connect and analyze donor and overall communications, as well as both electronic and print mailings.
- Participate in the planning and implementation of organizational events including pre-event promotion, on-site logistics, and post-event follow-up.
Communications City-wide Tree Planting Initiative
- Manage social media presence including developing content and scheduling posts in coordination with external initiative partners and alignment with initiative goals and brand guidelines.
- Implement efforts to recognize Hartford tree advocates and other residents supporting the initiative through the Hartford Urban Gardeners Society Awards and social media campaign.
- Capture video shorts of initiative activities and supporters to advance marketing strategy.
- Support partnership meetings by providing updates on initiative marketing activities and materials and soliciting feedback from partners.
- Track marketing and outreach activities and analyze for correlation to initiative goals.
- Advise on brand guidelines and resources needed to support program partners and consultants communications efforts.
- Participate in technical assistance sessions to support initiative partners and consultants in using templates and brand guidelines.
- Maintain all brand templates and guidelines in central location to ensure all partners can access and customize materials.
QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will possess outstanding written and verbal communication skills, be an organized self-starter, and have a positive attitude.
Specific requirements:
- A passion for and at least 2 years related work experience in journalism, communications, marketing or public relations is required.
- Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously while managing deadlines is necessary.
- Familiarity and comfort level working with websites, content management software, and social media platforms.
- Computer literacy, including strong proficiency with Microsoft Office programs and demonstrated experience working with design software.
