Chinese Language Lecturer

The Department of East Asian Studies invites applications for one or more positions as lecturer in Chinese language, expected to begin September 1, 2026, or during the 2026-2027 academic year. Positions that begin September 1 are expected to extend for one academic year. While duty time and appointment length will be based on student enrollments, we expect to fill at least one full-time position. Experience teaching Chinese at the college level is preferred. We seek candidates with a minimum requirement of a master's degree in disciplines such as Chinese linguistics, Chinese language pedagogy, Chinese history, Chinese literature, or related fields. Ph.D. is preferred.

Submission of a writing sample is optional (e.g., publications in Chinese or English, a dissertation chapter).

Reference letters will be requested after a Zoom interview. Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until any available position is filled. The work location for these positions is in-person on campus at Princeton University.

Expected Salary Range: $81,700-$86,000

The University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's qualifications, work experience, education/training, key skills, market, collective bargaining agreements as applicable, and organizational considerations when extending an offer. The posted salary range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate for a full-time position; salaries for part-time positions are pro-rated accordingly.
