This position is responsible for the creative development and implementation of PR plans for Championship Management events on the PGA TOUR schedule, under direction of department head or supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism
  • Minimum five years of experience required, preferably in Golf or Sports Event Communications
  • Proficient skills in writing, editing, content creation, idea pitching and public speaking
  • Demonstrated capacity to communicate and lead effectively within and across diverse groups
  • Solid organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficient with MS Office Software applications
  • A professional image, interpersonal skills, willingness to travel and ability to work as a team is essential
  • Experienced in social media applications


RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
  • Develop and implement customized, year-round, tournament public relations plans for select Championship Management events to elevate consumer awareness and generate sales revenue
  • Championship Management Tournament duties include: Development and implementation of calendar year PR timeline; year-round planning and liaising with tournament Executive Director and their staff; PR liaison with title sponsor's PR counterpart; day-to-day relationship building/maintenance with local media; develop and approve all written materials (press releases, tournament program, messaging, etc.); press release distribution and follow up; recaps/summaries of PR activities; oversight of local PR agency for additional support as needed
  • Development of tournament media guides
  • Work closely with PGA TOUR's Tournament Marketing department to produce e-marketing, digital, advertising and other promotional aspects of Championship Management events
  • Assist with credentialing process as assigned
  • Travel to tournament for on-site media relations for the tournament
  • Coordinate with player agents to schedule press conferences and all other media requests ranging from broadcast partners, down to local media requests for both pre-tournament and post-round interviews
  • Oversee fulfillment of informational statistics and interview requests from media, tournaments, television, print, radio, etc.
  • Coordination of media day, closing ceremony, and all other announcements;
  • Assist with communications counterparts and act as support for other Championship Management events as required
  • Manage and participate in promoting player and individual tournament storylines (local and national) across all media facets (print, digital, broadcast, radio, etc.)
  • Support department's corporate communications function and special assignments
  • Work closely with tournament and PGA TOUR social and digital channels for content creation to promote assigned events
  • Produce necessary materials for Senior Management in advance of press conferences, speaking engagements, presentations, etc.
  • Responsible for ensuring media and storytelling efforts in market directly correlate to ticket sales and YOY event growth
  • Liaise with international media to grow the PGA TOUR brand as well as player brands outside of the U.S.
  • Work closely with PGA TOUR's International Marketing and Communications department across platforms spanning digital, print, broadcast, traditional or OTT media
  • Assist in Storytelling efforts and overall content creation for Championship Management events assigned
  • Responsible for foresight of future Championship Management events on PGA TOUR schedule and coordinating announcements of those tournaments
  • Travel to select co-sanctioned PGA TOUR events in a media official capacity to further develop relationships with PGA TOUR staff, players, agents, vendors and others
  • Collaborate with TOUR players via Catalyst program to produce extensive dossiers and background elements for media opportunities and in support of the PGA TOUR's storytelling efforts within the broadcast
  • Support internal communications efforts with Daily Clippings duties as scheduled
  • Special projects or other duties as assigned
